Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji inaugurated a self reliant examination centre, a big hall with 50 laptops a separate server and printers to conduct the Osmania University degree exams smoothly and effectively for the visually challenged on 25th Nov’2018.
Swamiji has enabled these visually challenged students to write exams with no assistance from scribes! They are much more independent than ever before.
In today’s day and age, when technology is advancing by leaps and bounds to empower people across sections and geographies, why should blind and visually impaired people be left out? There are technological solutions that can be adopted for assessing blind students.
Netra Vidyalaya a brain child of HH CHinna Jeyar Swamiji was started with a mission to make the blind students self reliant and equally competent with the others by the use of latest technology.
A Junior college was inaugurated in 2007 at Sriramnagaram, Shamshabad by Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji. Since its inception many visually challenged children have become more independent than ever.Their families have begun to lead lives feeling more happier to see their children joyfully studying in a beautiful campus.
Each child was given a laptop. College Management worked hard to convince the Board of intermediate authorities and this paid off, when the authorities permitted the students to write the exams using the laptops instead of using the human scribes.
This would eliminate use of a crutch in the form of a scribe, thus making the blind student capable of independently sailing through exams.
In 2010, a Degree College for Blind was also started by Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, which is affiliated to Osmania University. Osmania University Authorities also permitted the Visually Challenged Degree students of Netra Vidyalaya to write their exams on laptops.
Though giving exams on laptops was an achievement, travelling to examination center with laptops, chargers and providing power supply for continuous three hours for all the students have become a challenge at the centers.
In lieu of these challenges Osmania University has given permission for self center to conduct exams for Degree college students.
On 25th Nov’18 a new self center was inaugurated by the blessing of HH Swamiji. For the first time in history students have started writing their Osmania University exams from 27th Nov’18 at self center.
This revolutionary thought of Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji for the visually impaired students to have a self reliant exam center and giving exams on their own laptops by themselves, have boosted the confidence and enthusiasm of the students. Using technology to independently write exams reduces the risk of errors and misinterpretation which usually is a part when using the scribes.
Nethra Vidyalaya, founded by HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, provides free, holistic education to visually impaired children — empowering them to live with dignity and self-reliance. Swamiji’s constant aspiration is to empower every student to become self-reliant and lead a life of dignity, without dependence on others.
Our students write exams on laptops, have marched in NCC Parades before the Governor, and shine in sports, athletics, and cultural events — embodying Swamiji’s vision of true independence.
These achievements reflect the dedication of our students, the guidance of Swamiji, and the generous support of our donors and volunteers.
