Inauguration of the Goalball Arena at Nethra Vidyalaya

Nethra Vidyalaya, Varija, witnessed a significant milestone on May 2, 2026, with the grand inauguration of its Goalball Arena, established as part of a CSR initiative by Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad. This initiative aims to empower visually challenged students by promoting inclusive sports and holistic development.

The event was graced by HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji and distinguished guests, Mr. G. Ravender Rao (Chairman) and Dr. G. Surender Rao (Managing Director) of Yashoda Hospitals.

HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji addressed the gathering, highlighting the mission of Nethra Vidyalaya and emphasizing that every individual should contribute to society according to their abilities. He conveyed a powerful message that one’s work itself is important, and service to society should go hand in hand with devotion. Swamiji also shared his recent visit to Yashoda Hospitals, appreciating their culture of compassion and equality. He noted that the institution treats patients based on their medical needs rather than their economic background, recognizing the problem and serving everyone with dignity.

Swamiji further mentioned that Dr. G. Surender Rao expressed keen interest in supporting students beyond education. Recognizing their proficiency in computer skills, he proposed offering free training programs to help them secure employment in service sectors such as call centers and reception roles. Swamiji encouraged teachers to explore diverse opportunities for students, emphasizing that there are no limits to their potential

An inspiring address was also delivered by the Head of Yashoda Hospitals, who shared his personal journey from being an atheist/agnostic to becoming a devotee over the past 15 years after meeting HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji. He emphasized that true spirituality lies in meaningful service to society beyond religious practices. Upon learning about the requirement for a Goalball Arena at Varija, the Yashoda Group readily came forward to support the initiative, describing it as a humble contribution towards the betterment of visually challenged students.

Sri MSSR Varma Ji Vice President, Vikasa Tarangini Central Committe spoke about the philosophy of “Sweeeya Aradhana – Sarva Adarana” in daily life and encouraged volunteers to actively participate in community service. He highlighted impactful initiatives carried out under Swamiji’s guidance, including the distribution of one lakh blankets in tribal regions of Visakhapatnam in 2025. Referring to a government school in the same region, he mentioned the severe winter conditions where students struggle without basic facilities like hot water. He shared that there is a requirement for installing water heaters in the school and sought HH Swamiji’s permission to approach companies for CSR support to fulfill this need and extend help to those in challenging conditions.

The event concluded with an exciting Goalball match, where students showcased remarkable skill, coordination, and determination. Coaches and support staff explained the rules of the game to the audience, making it an engaging experience. The atmosphere turned vibrant and energetic as the visually challenged students demonstrated their talent and team spirit.

HH Swamiji gave Mangalaasasanams to the all the players, coaches, staff of Varija, and Vikasa Tarangini volunteers. Trophies were distributed to the participants, marking the occasion as a memorable and inspiring celebration.

Nethra Vidyalaya, founded by HH Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, provides free, holistic education to visually impaired children — empowering them to live with dignity and self-reliance. Swamiji’s constant aspiration is to empower every student to become self-reliant and lead a life of dignity, without dependence on others.

Our students write exams on laptops, have marched in NCC Parades before the Governor, and shine in sports, athletics, and cultural events — embodying Swamiji’s vision of true independence.

These achievements reflect the dedication of our students, the guidance of Swamiji, and the generous support of our donors and volunteers.
