College for Blind Students Celebrated World Braille Day-2015

Blind Junior and Degree College students, Teachers and Volunteers celebrated the World Braille Day by participating in 5K Walk-A-Thon followed by Cultural Program.

HH Sri Ahobila Jeeyar Swamiji started the walk at 10:30 AM from Andal Nilayam in Moosarambagh to Ashtalakshmi Temple in Dilsukhnagar.

All the Blind students of Intermediate and Degree Colleges along with hundreds of supporters and volunteered raised great awareness about the contribution of Braille to empower the lives of visually challenged. The walkathon was followed by cultural program organized by the students of Colleges for Visually Challenged.

The program started with beautiful songs and wonderful dances along with mimicry. Our Blind students enthralled the audience in a mesmerizing manner. HH Sri Ahobila Jeeyar Swamiji motivated the Police officers, Vikasa Tarangini Board, Nethra Vidyalya Committee and Ashtalakshmi Temple administration team to do their part in serving the underprivileged. Many donors came forward to support our Blind Junior and Degree colleges. NMDC donated 5 lakh rupees.

Vikasa Tarangini and VT Seva dignitaries motivated the students and supporters to continue to excel in the academics and value based education.

What is Braille :

Generally Braille is a code for letters which can be recognized by touch. Louis Braille who is a French citizen met with an accident at a very young age . He invented this language. Before Braille visually impaired students read and write using the Huy system which was forced Latin letters on thick paper or leather. But this is a very complicated system and needs much more training and this training only allows blind students to read but it does not allow to write.

Word Braille Day :

The Braille inventor, Louis Braille birth day is on January 4th . His invention helped lots of blind students to read and write and indirectly developed self motivation in visually impaired students to achieve their goals for this reason On  his birth day world celebrates Braille day on Jan 4rth .

On this day Nethra Vidyalaya Blind school volunteers around the world creates awareness about the challenges faced by visually impaired people. On this Nethra Vidyalaya Blind school & colleges conducts competitions in various aspects to make their skills outcome.

Every year on January 4th world Braille Day . On this occasion world   celebrates Braille day.
